About Kathryn
Hello, I'm so pleased you've landed here.
It suggests you're curious about finding specialised, effective support in the following areas:
-
Health anxiety
-
Neurodivergence (ADHD & ASD/autism)
-
Perimenopause & menopause (including induced menopause)
-
Pre-menstrual health conditions (PMDD, PME, PMS)
-
Trying to conceive (unassisted & fertility treatments)
I developed BodyTalk because I have a body, mind and heart that needs love, patience, curiosity and understanding.
I imagine you do too.
I know the importance of a confidential space in which you can be honest, messy and curious. I provide a warm, supportive and empowering space where you can be entirely you – and I’ll do the same.
My story
I have ADHD and manage a chronic condition. For me, these realities influence - and are influenced by - my body, mind, mood and habits. Focus on just one or two and I don't feel my best - I certainly don't feel like me.
Like all therapists, I have been in therapy and - you know what? - I had many times when I felt a disconnect with the work or the therapist, or like something was missing...
More than a space to explore my feelings and story (although that's essential too), I found myself wanting to connect what these thoughts and emotions did to my body – and vice versa.
Because I started to notice – it’s a lot.
As a woman navigating monthly – daily! – change that seemed to influence my mood, energy, sleep, resilience, immune function, stress tolerance, relationships… everything, leaving out these core parts of me (what it's like to be in my body, how I live my life) just seemed wrong and limiting.
No wonder I would often leave generic counselling sessions feeling more confused than when I went in, or somehow “short-changed”; or worse, like I was “too much” to hope for more!
I also wanted effective, integrated tools and strategies and the body knowledge to feel better so that I could do the day-to-day stuff and, in time, experience real, lasting change.
And as I connected my thinking and feeling to my body and habits, and as my interest and training in female experience and biology grew, I realised that when generic counselling leaves out the female body and habits that support us to feel our best, it's often inadequate.
